Spent the morning in the garden planting yesterday’s Triscombe purchases of verbena, artemesia and penstemon. In a garden this full you wouldn’t think there’d be room for anything more, but somehow empty spaces open up and new ideas suggest themselves.
Very much like life really.
I could pretty much spend all day gardening here, every day. I do love this cottage but I think it would be even nicer if the windows overlooked the garden more, especially the front garden which is the more floral. It would be so lovely to be able to sit and look at it, rather than only see it in passing on the way to the car and back. But then it would be perfect, and what is? I am so lucky anyway.
Finally called Sue Honeyball at Manor Farm to arrange some riding and arranged a lesson for Sunday. So excited. I don’t even have to buy any clothing as they can lend me everything to start with. I’m not sure what my reluctance in contacting her has been or why I’ve been so pathetic about something I’d really like to do, and now I’m almost going back to London in a couple of days again.
Also called J, the carpenter chap. He invited me to a party once – I didn’t go, although I was here. He wouldn’t let me pay him and said I should buy him a drink sometime. I only wanted him to come and fix the lock on the wash house, not be my friend. I just want friendly. Is that mean spirited of me?
My Boy got the job he was being interviewed for yesterday and it’s made my day. He deserves it and it’s only been a month since he returned from his travels, which is great, considering the current state of the economy.
So another new chapter starts.
